Navigate the Camera Raw preview

A control reference for zoom, pan, Fit, actual size and Before/After, with browser-specific preview limitations.

Applies to Photo 0.9.0 on photo.et.

In this browser edition

Camera Raw’s browser preview remains proxy-based. Use the on-screen controls when the browser reserves a keyboard shortcut.

What this reference covers#

The Camera Raw dialog's preview has Zoom, Hand, Fit in View, 100%, and zoom preset controls at the bottom left.

Choose Fit in View, or press Ctrl+0 on Windows/Linux (Command+0 on macOS), to fit the whole image inside the preview.

At 100%, one source pixel maps to one physical display pixel, including HiDPI. The browser build retains the processed proxy; enlarging that preview does not add the source detail available to native desktop refinement.

Zoom and pan are view state: they do not change filter parameters or document history. Before/After keeps the same position; colour probes and clipping overlays follow the image coordinates. Cancel discards the filter; OK applies it through the existing Camera Raw command.

Browser preview limits#

WebAssembly keeps the processed proxy until a browser-worker refinement path is available. The native desktop implementation's full-resolution background refinement is not part of this browser workflow. Treat a large zoom as a navigation aid, and inspect your applied result when judging fine sharpening, grain or texture.

Histogram and vectorscope statistics remain based on the proxy even when zoom changes. Before/After keeps the same viewing position, so comparing the same area is easier. Zooming and panning do not make a document-history edit.

Browser-reserved shortcuts can intercept combinations such as Ctrl+0 or Ctrl+plus. If that happens, use the dialog's Fit, 100% and zoom dropdown controls rather than changing the browser page zoom.
