Save, export and exchange files
Choose between an editable master and a finished image for sharing.
Applies to Photo 0.9.0 on photo.et.
How it works#
Use an editable document format when you need to keep layers, masks, text and effects available for revision. The native .pcraft format is intended for PhotoCraft projects; PSD and PSB support exchange with Photoshop-compatible workflows. Layered TIFF and OpenRaster provide additional options, with their own feature and compatibility boundaries.
Export As creates a delivery image with controls for format, quality, transparency and scale, along with a preview and size estimate. Quick Export as PNG is convenient for a simple image output. PNG suits lossless graphics and transparency; JPEG is useful for photographs where a smaller lossy file is acceptable. WebP offers lossless and lossy choices. The browser downloads the result rather than writing directly over a chosen source file.
File support is not a promise that every feature from another editor remains editable. Affinity, Krita and Paint.NET imports each support a subset of their native models. Read warnings, compare complex layered files visually and keep the original. Animation and multipage containers generally open a single frame or page in the ordinary image-import path. For important exchanges, reopen the exported file in the application that will receive it.
Try it#
- Save an editable master before preparing a flattened delivery image.
- Choose File → Export → Export As.
- Select format, size, quality and transparency settings appropriate to the destination.
- Download, reopen and inspect the result.
