Open, edit and save your first photo

Start a browser editing session and keep an editable copy of your work.

Applies to Photo 0.9.0 on photo.et.

How it works#

Photo runs the PhotoCraft editing engine in your browser. Begin with File → Open to choose an image from your device, or File → New to create a blank document. You can open several files in one picker operation; each becomes its own document tab. The canvas is your working area, the toolbar chooses an editing tool, and panels provide controls for layers, colors and the current operation.

Browser saving creates a downloaded file. It does not silently overwrite the original image on your device. Save an editable document before exporting a flattened picture for sharing, and check that the download finished before closing the tab. Browser preferences and brush storage are separate from a saved document; they are not a backup of your artwork.

For a first edit, make one change at a time: straighten or crop the composition, adjust brightness, then export. Keep the original file so you can compare results. Large images, many layers and complex effects can require substantial browser memory; start with a smaller copy if a document is difficult to work with.

Try it#

  1. Choose File → Open and select a photograph.
  2. Use the Layers panel to select the image layer before editing.
  3. Save an editable copy, then use File → Export → Export As for a shareable image.
  4. Confirm the downloaded files exist before ending the session.
